Liquid Penetrant Inspection Process
A low-viscosity penetrant is applied to the test surface and allowed to enter surface-breaking discontinuities. After the required cleaning stage, developer is applied to draw penetrant back to the surface and create visible indications for evaluation.
Depending on the inspection requirement, liquid penetrant testing can use solvent-removable, water-washable or post-emulsifiable penetrant systems.
